EOTN (eye of the night) using Urban Decay naked palette

So I actually remembered to take a picture of my eye makeup before I went out. I was really pleased with how it turned out. I used the Urban Decay Naked palette to complete this look, I don't know what I ever did without it!!

1. Apply Urban Decay primer potion
2. Apply HALF BAKED (frosty gold colour) eyeshadow all over the lid.
3. Apply DARK HORSE (frosty dark brown) eyeshadow in the crease.
4. Apply a tiny amount of CREEP (frosty black) in the outer corner.
5. Apply WHISKEY (brown) pencil eyeliner along lower lash line and ZERO (black) pencil eyeliner in the outer corner of lower lash line. Blend using either your finger or an angled eyeliner brush.
6. Apply Mac's fluidline in blacktrack along upper lash line
7. Apply Benefit's eye bright pencil on brow bone
8. Apply mascara (I forgot to do this before I took these pictures)

ASOS nail polish haul

Hey guys,

Sorry I've been M.I.A recently been trying to get back into the routine of uni and been busy going out and stuff. I've really been making good use of the Urban Decay Naked palette which has to be my absolute favourite beauty product of the moment for me, wish I'd taken some EOTD pictures!! It's great for day and night eyes. I was planning on doing another ELF haul which is now officially lost in the mail and I've just asked for a refund now :( not happy!!

So just thought I'd share with you a recent nails haul I did from ASOS as they had a sale on their nail polishes.

I got quite a strange mix of colours:

1.Eyeko Posh polish 8.5ml for ladylike nails (so cute!!)

2.Models Own purple Grey 14ml- which is supposedly a non shimmery dupe for Chanel's paradoxal. See comparison here on The Swatchaholic's blog.

3.Models Own Slate Green 14ml

4. Rimmel's 60 seconds in Purple Reign 8ml - This is coming out darker than it is on camera.

I would show swatches but my nails are currently painted with Rimmel's Lycra Pro in Beige Babe and with Rimmel's lycra pro matte finish on top. And I'm loving the combo so don't wanna take it off just yet! But expect some NOTDs with the above nail polishes :)

Random blabber!! (and NOTD)

Sorry again for the lack of posts. I'm in the process of moving back to uni so been busy packing!

I was hoping to do another E.L.F haul but it decided to get lost in the post and the E.L.F people have told me I have to wait until it's been 2 weeks since the dispatch date and then they'll look into it, so annoyed!!

So I won my first giveaway this week over on Stylefrost's blog. Go check her blog out she does really great OOTD (outfit of the day) posts.

So I've given my blog abit of a spruce up, was getting kinda bored of the old format. Hope you guys like it :)

And of course another NOTD. I remembered Kim Kardashian doing a twitpic of her white nails a couple of months ago and just decided to try all white nails. They're definitely "illuminating", kinda weird getting used to but now I love them. I've used Barry M nail paint in "Matt white".

NOTD: Emerald City

Been on the hunt for a deep forest green nail polish and this is the best I could find. It's by Revlon and it's part of their new Autumn/ Winter collection. This is 1 of 2 Matte nail polishes they've released. You can check out the rest of the collection on www.tackyblueeyeshadow.com, she's also included some swatches (love the look of the Smoked Peach lipstick!!)

It's much greener in real life, was kinda hard to capture on camera. The shimmer in the nail polish gives the nails more of a satin looking finish but it is matte!! The wear of this polish isn't that great, only had it on for a day and already have some tip wear :(

(was having fun with the colour accent mode on my camera!)

I really love the colour of this polish and wish it would photograph better!! I think this would be a perfect colour for winter time as it quite christmassy looking, the shimmer and the deep green colour kinda reminds me of a christmas tree!!

It retails for £6.29 which may seem abit much but there is a whole 14.7 ml of product. I just wish it was more long lasting.

Superdrug haul/ NOTD

So this is a little Superdrug haul. Just got some things I really needed.

1. Batiste Coloured Dry Shampoo
I've used the original one before and loved it. It was great to use when I didn't have time to wash my hair but I didn't like the fact the it left some white residue behind, kinda looked like really fine dandruff!! But the coloured one is amazing, it's black so no visible residue!! :)

2. Carmex
I've been really late in jumping on the Carmex bandwagon. I like it but don't really think it's that amazing, it has no colour so it's abit blah. I prefer my bodyshop Born Lippy strawberry lip balm which has a slight pink tint and smells amazing. It really helps to bring out the natural pink in my lips and is so moisturising.

So there was a 3 for 2 offer on Rimmel:
3. Rimmel natural bronzer in Sun light
Was looking for a matte bronzer and this looked matte when I was in the shop but when I tried it at home, it had noticeable shimmer. Damn Superdrug lighting :(

4. Rimmel eyebrow pencil in 004 black/brown
I love this! My brows are near enough black but I didn't want to use a black brow pencil. But this is a really dark brown, just the perfect shade for my brows :)

5. Rimmel lycra pro nail polish in Beige Babe
A gorgeous greige colour, just perfect for autumn. It applies easily, needs two coats for opaque coverage.

First E.L.F haul

I've been wanting to order from ELF cosmetics for some time. They have great quality products at really affordable prices, only problem is they never seem to have anything in stock!!

So they recently had a big delivery and I was finally able to order a few things I had wanted. They also had a free shipping code too. They usually give out discount codes on their
F
acebook page, for every 1000 'likes' they get. These discount codes aren't as great as the American site but its better than nothing :)

So here's what I got

1. Studio Blush And Bronzer Compact
2. Mechanical Eyelash Curler
3. Nail Polish in Mod Muave
4. Studio Powder Brush
5. Tone Correcting Concealer in Honey (light)
6. Wet Gloss Lash And Brow Clear Mascara

Everything from their Studio line is £3.50 and everything else is only £1.50. Great way to add to your make-up bag without stretching the purse strings too much :)

Reviews on these products will be coming up as and when I use them. But from initial impression I'm really happy with these products!!

Models own it so I should too :)

So recently I've gone crazy (probably end of summer boredom) buying stuff online. So I've got many a hauls coming up for you guys.

I'm gonna start with Models own. They recently had a 50% of sale online so I ordered a few things. I would've got more but their website was crazy slow and I just didn't have the patience.

So I first thing I got was the 6-way nail buffer

And then the polishes from left to right are:
1. Nude Beige
2. Pastel Pink
3. Lilac Dream
4. Tickled Pink

All only £2.50 each!! I've already tried the nude beige and absolutely love it! The formula is so creamy and applies like a dream, could do with a slightly larger brush though. Each polish contains 14ml.

They're delivery was crazy quick too. I put in my order at like midnight on Wednesday night and recieved it on Friday morning.

Urban Decay Naked Palette!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG OMG it's finally here!! Sorry for the lack of posts but I've got loads of hauls coming up :)

As most of you know the Urban Decay naked palette came out on the 23rd of August exclusive to House of Fraser. So at around midnight on Monday after staring at the website for an hour I took the plunge and ordered it.

It finally came on Friday and it was well worth the wait.

It's just so pretty!! I cannot express how much I love this palette and can't wait to start experimenting with it. I love the packaging too, it's so sleek and sophisticated unlike UD's previous palettes that required too much faffing around. Click
here, for the Temptalia's review on the palette and for some really good swatches.

It also comes with a double ended 24/7 glide on eye pencil and a mini primer potion (not pictured)

The palette retails for £27 which I think is well worth it as you get 12 eyeshadows, which works out to only £2.25 an eyeshadow!

I think its sold out now as I tried to order one for my mum and its disappeared from the house of fraser website. It is going to be released nationwide 6th September not sure whether its limited edition or permanent.

EOTD: neutral pink/brown look

This is my favourite everyday look of the moment. Requires very few products and so quick and easy to do when your in a rush!

Products used:

1. Urban Decay Primer Potion - stop shadows from creasing
2. No. 7 perfecting base - to add a pink base
3. Benefit's eye bright as a brow highlight
4. No. 7 stay perfect eyeshadow palette in 22 Pretty Posey
5. Maybelline's define-a-lash in black/brown - much softer looking than using a black mascara

NOTD: Minnie Mouse :D

I saw this tutorial on youtube and knew I had to duplicate it, it was just too cute!

I remember when I first went to disneyland and met Minnie Mouse and she signed my Minnie Mouse doll. Of course I now know it was just an idiot in a costume, but I was only 7 and really excited :)

I didn't put bows on all the nails because it was difficult just doing the one!

What I used:
Base: Nails inc. kensington basecoat caviar
Red polish: Rimmel's lycra Pro in Ruby Me
White Polish: Barry M's Nail Paint in Matt White
Black Polish: Rimmel's 60 seconds in Black Out
Top Coat: Nails inc. kensington topcoat caviar

I didn't have a dotting tool so just used an orange stick and used cello-tape with the red polish to achieve clean, straight edges.

Voluptuous lashes?

A month ago, thinking I'd lost my beloved MaxFactor lash extension effect mascara (it was actually hiding under the bed), I hot footed it down to my local boots to buy a new one.

But I got distracted by the Maybelline stand as there was an offer on their new mascara, Lash stiletto voluptuous.

Being a total sucker for cute packaging, it's shaped like a stiletto :D , I left with this.

Before and After shot:

As you can see the clever S shaped brush really helps to curl my lashes (I don't use an eyelash curler). It gives amazing length and a decent amount of volume. However I do find that the curl it gives my lashes doesn't last longer than a few hours. And I prefer only applying one coat of this as it's hard to avoid clumping if you apply anymore!

Overall, I would recommend this mascara as it gives you length and some volume and doesn't break the bank balance either :)

Matte nails: Yay or Nay?

So matte nails are nothing new. They were a really popular trend last summer. With brands like essie, opi etc. all coming out with matte nail polishes. It just never really appealed to me.

So about a month ago I was in boots browsing the Rimmel stand when I spotted a mattifying top coat and decided I would give matte nails a go.

Only actually bothered to dig this out a yesterday and applied this over two coats of Rimmel's lycra pro nail polish in Urban princess. The mattifying top coat is also from Rimmel's lycra pro range which claims to last up to 10 days. But I've read that matte nails tend to chip easy so watch this space :)

Rimmel lycra pro nail polish in Urban Princess:

With Rimmel lycra pro mattifying top coat (I left the middle nail so you can see the difference)
Mmm I'm still undecided I guess it depends on the polish you wear underneath. What do you guys think about matte nails?

NOTD :)

I decided to go really crazy with the nails and I'm pleased with the result.

First colour is a Barry M nail paint called Matt White. Applies well with only one coat needed for opaque coverage.

The second colour is from Rimmel's 60 seconds collection and is called Sky high. I love Rimmel nail polishes as they're so easy to apply. They have a large brush similar to OPI nail polishes which means you only need a couple of swipes, so it really can only take '60 seconds' to apply :)

Bent eyeliner brush

I've never found applying liquid/pencil eyeliner easy. I just never had a steady hand and it would take me ages to get a perfect line with liquid liner and pencil just seemed to drag on my skin.

So not wanting to give up on eyeliner altogether I decided to buy Mac's Fluidline in Blacktrack (a gel eyeliner) as I'd heard its much easier to apply. My first attempt was with an angled eyeliner brush but I still struggled to get a perfect line without taking 10 years.

I'd seen dulcecandy87 on youtube using a bent eyeliner brush by Sonia Kashuk and she made it look so easy to apply!! So off I went on google to track it down. Unfortunately Sonia Kasuk is not sold in the UK. Then I spotted on Amazon a bent eyeliner brush by called Royal & Langnickel for only £4.79!! So in my basket it went along with free delivery.

This is Royal & Langnickel's website
As you can see they sell ALOT of different brushes. They have 20 different Kabuki brushes alone!!

So this is the eyeliner brush:

It's so easy to apply:

So my eye can go from this:

To this, in a matter of seconds (added a touch of MaxFactor's lash extension effect mascara too)

I cannot recommend this brush more, its so cheap and makes applying gel eyeliner a breeze :)

Nails of the day: multicoloured :)

I decided I wanted to go full on colour on my nails so I used two new nail polishes which I'd recently purchased.

First colour is from the Barry M ice cream collection and is called Blueberry. I love it!! Only needs one coat to get opaque coverage and non streaky!

The other colour I used was from Rimmel's lasting finish fruities collection and is called Apricot Punch. I needed two coats to get opaque coverage and found it a tad streaky. This polish is supposed to have a fruity scent when dried and I found it to smell EXACTLY like peach schnapps! Definitely got me craving some :)

I absolutely adore both these colours and think they go really well together. It's always more fun wearing more than one colour.

How I conceal my dark circles

Wouldn't you love to live in a world where you can wake up and look perfect? I know I would. Dark circles can occur for a many number of reasons. But where there are imperfections there is makeup.
I suffer from really bad undereye circles as you can see:

But lucky for me there's makeup so no one has to know :) Here's how I conceal them:

1.First I like to apply an eye cream to give a good base for my concealer. I love using boots vitamin e eye cream it applies easily and absorbs well into my skin.

2.Next I dot on MAC's select moisturecover concealer. I like using a cool toned concealer as it helps to cancel out the blue circles.

3.
I find when using my finger to blend in this concealer, my finger absorbs some of the concealer so I end up using more of it. I find that I need less concealer when using a synthetic bristled brush so much prefer a brush!

4. Now this concealer does need setting as it will literally start creasing as soon as you've applied it. But I've overcome this problem by using Maybelline dream matte powder. This is a soft, finely milled powder and helps to stop the concealer creasing. I love it!! The shade I have is golden beige, which is lighter than my skin tone, has a nice brightening effect to the under eye area.

And there you go as you can see this hasn't completely eradicated the circles but its definately improved their appearance :)

Barry M nail paint review

I love bright nail polishes. Much easier to have colourful nails then wearing bright eye makeup or clothes which can become too much. They just allow you to have a nice pop of colour :)

So when I spotted these beauties in Superdrug on a 2 for £5 I snapped them up.
The first shade is lemon ice cream which is a lovely pastel shade of yellow.

The only downside to this polish is that it needs 3 coats to get an opaque coverage and needs to be applied carefully as it can go streaky.

The next shade is called Mint Green, which describes the shade perfectly.
This was much easier to apply, only needed two coats but again need to be careful to avoid annoying streaky marks.

Barry M nail paints are definitely hit and miss. I've tried some that only require one coat to give a completely opaque coverage and ones just like the above that require a little extra effort. But overall love the colour selection and the price.

Sales haul :)

OMG how amazing are sales!! Picked up some serious bargains but definitely had to restrain myself from spending too much. So here's what I got:

This necklace is from Miss Selfridge and absolute bargain at only £1.80 gotta love sales and student discount !!

Another necklace this time from Wallis. I just love the dangly charms so cute, this was £2.70.

I loved this bag from the minute I saw it, the colour, the detailing and when I saw the price I knew I had to have it :) only £6.30 from Miss Selfridge.

And of course I got shoes. These gladiator sandals are both from Next. Trying to find shoes in Next was an absolute nightmare, the shoes were literally in piles on the shelves. It was like trying to dig for treasure but I'm happy with what I found :)

Love the slogans on these socks thought they were quite funny and definitely can't go wrong for £2.

So thats all for my haul. Hope you guys found some bargains too :)

xoxo
