Urban Decay Naked Palette!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OMG OMG it's finally here!! Sorry for the lack of posts but I've got loads of hauls coming up :)

As most of you know the Urban Decay naked palette came out on the 23rd of August exclusive to House of Fraser. So at around midnight on Monday after staring at the website for an hour I took the plunge and ordered it.

It finally came on Friday and it was well worth the wait.

It's just so pretty!! I cannot express how much I love this palette and can't wait to start experimenting with it. I love the packaging too, it's so sleek and sophisticated unlike UD's previous palettes that required too much faffing around. Click
here, for the Temptalia's review on the palette and for some really good swatches.

It also comes with a double ended 24/7 glide on eye pencil and a mini primer potion (not pictured)

The palette retails for £27 which I think is well worth it as you get 12 eyeshadows, which works out to only £2.25 an eyeshadow!

I think its sold out now as I tried to order one for my mum and its disappeared from the house of fraser website. It is going to be released nationwide 6th September not sure whether its limited edition or permanent.

EOTD: neutral pink/brown look

This is my favourite everyday look of the moment. Requires very few products and so quick and easy to do when your in a rush!

Products used:

1. Urban Decay Primer Potion - stop shadows from creasing
2. No. 7 perfecting base - to add a pink base
3. Benefit's eye bright as a brow highlight
4. No. 7 stay perfect eyeshadow palette in 22 Pretty Posey
5. Maybelline's define-a-lash in black/brown - much softer looking than using a black mascara

NOTD: Minnie Mouse :D

I saw this tutorial on youtube and knew I had to duplicate it, it was just too cute!

I remember when I first went to disneyland and met Minnie Mouse and she signed my Minnie Mouse doll. Of course I now know it was just an idiot in a costume, but I was only 7 and really excited :)

I didn't put bows on all the nails because it was difficult just doing the one!

What I used:
Base: Nails inc. kensington basecoat caviar
Red polish: Rimmel's lycra Pro in Ruby Me
White Polish: Barry M's Nail Paint in Matt White
Black Polish: Rimmel's 60 seconds in Black Out
Top Coat: Nails inc. kensington topcoat caviar

I didn't have a dotting tool so just used an orange stick and used cello-tape with the red polish to achieve clean, straight edges.

Voluptuous lashes?

A month ago, thinking I'd lost my beloved MaxFactor lash extension effect mascara (it was actually hiding under the bed), I hot footed it down to my local boots to buy a new one.

But I got distracted by the Maybelline stand as there was an offer on their new mascara, Lash stiletto voluptuous.

Being a total sucker for cute packaging, it's shaped like a stiletto :D , I left with this.

Before and After shot:

As you can see the clever S shaped brush really helps to curl my lashes (I don't use an eyelash curler). It gives amazing length and a decent amount of volume. However I do find that the curl it gives my lashes doesn't last longer than a few hours. And I prefer only applying one coat of this as it's hard to avoid clumping if you apply anymore!

Overall, I would recommend this mascara as it gives you length and some volume and doesn't break the bank balance either :)

Matte nails: Yay or Nay?

So matte nails are nothing new. They were a really popular trend last summer. With brands like essie, opi etc. all coming out with matte nail polishes. It just never really appealed to me.

So about a month ago I was in boots browsing the Rimmel stand when I spotted a mattifying top coat and decided I would give matte nails a go.

Only actually bothered to dig this out a yesterday and applied this over two coats of Rimmel's lycra pro nail polish in Urban princess. The mattifying top coat is also from Rimmel's lycra pro range which claims to last up to 10 days. But I've read that matte nails tend to chip easy so watch this space :)

Rimmel lycra pro nail polish in Urban Princess:

With Rimmel lycra pro mattifying top coat (I left the middle nail so you can see the difference)
Mmm I'm still undecided I guess it depends on the polish you wear underneath. What do you guys think about matte nails?

NOTD :)

I decided to go really crazy with the nails and I'm pleased with the result.

First colour is a Barry M nail paint called Matt White. Applies well with only one coat needed for opaque coverage.

The second colour is from Rimmel's 60 seconds collection and is called Sky high. I love Rimmel nail polishes as they're so easy to apply. They have a large brush similar to OPI nail polishes which means you only need a couple of swipes, so it really can only take '60 seconds' to apply :)

Bent eyeliner brush

I've never found applying liquid/pencil eyeliner easy. I just never had a steady hand and it would take me ages to get a perfect line with liquid liner and pencil just seemed to drag on my skin.

So not wanting to give up on eyeliner altogether I decided to buy Mac's Fluidline in Blacktrack (a gel eyeliner) as I'd heard its much easier to apply. My first attempt was with an angled eyeliner brush but I still struggled to get a perfect line without taking 10 years.

I'd seen dulcecandy87 on youtube using a bent eyeliner brush by Sonia Kashuk and she made it look so easy to apply!! So off I went on google to track it down. Unfortunately Sonia Kasuk is not sold in the UK. Then I spotted on Amazon a bent eyeliner brush by called Royal & Langnickel for only £4.79!! So in my basket it went along with free delivery.

This is Royal & Langnickel's website
As you can see they sell ALOT of different brushes. They have 20 different Kabuki brushes alone!!

So this is the eyeliner brush:

It's so easy to apply:

So my eye can go from this:

To this, in a matter of seconds (added a touch of MaxFactor's lash extension effect mascara too)

I cannot recommend this brush more, its so cheap and makes applying gel eyeliner a breeze :)

Nails of the day: multicoloured :)

I decided I wanted to go full on colour on my nails so I used two new nail polishes which I'd recently purchased.

First colour is from the Barry M ice cream collection and is called Blueberry. I love it!! Only needs one coat to get opaque coverage and non streaky!

The other colour I used was from Rimmel's lasting finish fruities collection and is called Apricot Punch. I needed two coats to get opaque coverage and found it a tad streaky. This polish is supposed to have a fruity scent when dried and I found it to smell EXACTLY like peach schnapps! Definitely got me craving some :)

I absolutely adore both these colours and think they go really well together. It's always more fun wearing more than one colour.
